How to make a refreshing Ouzo Cocktail (makes one cocktail)
Ingredients:
Ouzo - 2 ½ ounces
Fresh lemon juice -1 ounce
Honey or agave syrup -1 teaspoon
Mint -4 leaves
Ice
In a mixing cup, stir together the first three ingredients. The ouzo may change color and become cloudy, and this is to be expected. It is referred to as the “Ouzo Effect.” Add two of the mint leaves and muddle it briefly for a few moments. Pour over ice (an important part, as this cocktail is to be served chilled). Add a couple more mint leaves to garnish and enjoy!
A variation on this recipe is to soak ½ cup of blueberries in ½ cup of ouzo overnight.
Add a teaspoon of blueberries when you add the mint leaves and muddle.
The remainder of the blueberries are delightful served over French-Vanilla ice cream!
